Museum of Ice Cream, Boston – Plan Your Visit

Public Transportation

Using the MBTA system is often the most efficient way to reach the Seaport District, as it avoids city traffic and parking fees.

Silver Line (SL1, SL2, SL3): The museum is a short walk from the Courthouse station. Upon exiting the station, walk east on Seaport Boulevard toward the harbor.

Red Line: Take the Red Line to South Station. From there, you can either walk approximately 10–12 minutes across the Summer Street bridge or transfer to the Silver Line for a one-stop ride to Courthouse station.

Commuter Rail: Passengers arriving at South Station from the south or west can walk or transfer to the Silver Line. Those arriving at North Station should take the Orange Line to Downtown Crossing and transfer to the Red Line toward South Station.

Driving and Parking

If you are driving, the museum is located near the intersection of Seaport Boulevard and Sleepers Street, easily accessible from I-90 (Mass Pike) and I-93.

One Seaport Garage: Located at 75 Sleeper Street, this is the closest self-park facility to the museum entrance.

Watermark Seaport Garage: Situated at 85 Seaport Blvd, this garage offers convenient access just a block away from the venue.

Atlantic Wharf Garage: Located at 280 Congress Street, this provides an alternative option just across the Fort Point Channel, roughly a 7-minute walk away.

Please note that the museum does not offer validated parking. It is recommended to use a parking app to check real-time availability and rates, as the Seaport District is a high-demand area.

Walking and Biking

The museum is located along the Boston Harborwalk, making it a scenic destination for those traveling on foot from downtown or the Waterfront.

Bluebikes: There are several bike-share docks in the immediate vicinity, including stations at Seaport Blvd and Sleeper Street, as well as near the Moakley Federal Courthouse.

The Museum of Ice Cream Boston is designed as a high-capacity, multi-sensory environment featuring 14 distinct interactive installations.

The venue includes climate-controlled spaces, a two-story slide, and the signature sprinkle pool.

Restrooms are centrally located and maintained to high hygiene standards, featuring baby-changing stations to accommodate families with young children.

To ensure a smooth flow through the self-guided experience, the facility utilizes a timed-entry system.

While there are no lockers on-site for large luggage or suitcases, a limited coat check may be available during winter months.

Visitors are encouraged to travel light, as strollers must be parked in a designated area before entering the main exhibit path to maintain safety and accessibility for all guests.

The Museum of Ice Cream Boston is fully compliant with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards, ensuring that all guests can navigate the 14 installations. The venue is equipped with elevators and ramps to provide seamless access between floors, including the transition to the two-story slide area and the sprinkle pool. All entrances, hallways, and doorways are wide enough to accommodate standard wheelchairs and motorized mobility scooters.

For guests who cannot use the slide, alternative accessible routes are clearly marked and maintained. The sprinkle pool is designed with an accessible entry point; however, guests with physical mobility constraints should note that the pool contains deep layers of plastic sprinkles which may require assistance for some individuals to navigate. Service animals, as defined by the ADA, are permitted throughout the museum, provided they remain under the owner’s control at all times.

The experience is highly sensory, featuring bright lights, amplified music, and interactive sounds. Guests with sensory sensitivities or neurodivergence can request a sensory map from the staff to identify areas with higher levels of stimulation. While the museum does not currently offer dedicated "quiet hours" on a daily basis, staff members are trained to assist guests who may need a calmer environment or a temporary exit from the main path.

The Shop at Museum of Ice Cream is located at the end of the experience and is accessible to both ticket holders and the general public.

The store features a curated selection of exclusive Boston-themed merchandise, including apparel, stationery, and plush toys. Visitors can find unique items like sprinkle-themed accessories and professional-grade ice cream scoops that are not available at standard retail outlets.

In addition to physical keepsakes, the store offers a variety of pre-packaged sweets and take-home treats. For those looking for a specific memento of their Boston visit, the shop carries location-specific items such as Fenway-inspired memorabilia and custom posters.
